The game Legends of Eisenwald takes place in medieval Europe, where superstitions prove to be true, and supernatural beings and phenomena enter the story. You become a young heir who needs to deal with the disappearance of his family members and subsequent chaos in the country. You will travel across the country looking for your family and look for allies in order to restore order and fight for the throne and the treasure. You can choose the gender of your character as well as the class he or she belongs to. There will be knights, archers and mystics to choose from. Choosing a specific character will slightly change elements of the story and the way other characters will react to you. The strategic map allows you to visit various places, from castles and villages to monasteries and markets.
